CDCP to CNA Career Ladder
Launch your career in healthcare!
The Healthcare Workforce Training Institute is a nonprofit organization committed to increasing and advancing the healthcare workforce through quality certifications and trainings. We are excited to work with the WisCaregiver Careers program to pilot the CDCP to CNA Career Ladder course.
Earn two certifications when you take the CDCP to CNA Career Ladder course!
Participating in the Certified Direct Care Professional (CDCP) to Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Career Ladder (CDCP-to-CNA) course will provide you FREE access to the CDCP course online learning modules, which you can use at any time and place. The time you spend going through the online modules will reduce approximately 20 hours from the in-person nurse aide (CNA) portion of this program.
You also receive FREE educational support from the Healthcare Workforce Training Institute. The institute's nurse educators will be available to answer course material-related questions anytime during your learning experience.
Once you have completed the online modules and obtained your CDCP certification, you will be invited to take the nurse aide class entrance quiz online. Upon passing the quiz, you will be invited to register the in-person CNA course through the Healthcare Workforce Training Institute at the reduced rate of $750 (includes the textbook, printed materials, background check, and tuberculosis tests).
This $750 fee can be paid by yourself, or you can receive the CNA course for FREE, if paid by your employer, community service program (WIOA, FSET, etc.), or your high school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) grant.
In the event that you begin to work in the field of healthcare by participating in this course, you may be eligible for bonuses depending on your employer and how long you work for them. Visit WisCaregiver.com for more information.
By earning these two certifications, it will open many doors in the healthcare field and provide a great way to enhance your resume and career goals.
Before enrolling, we want to ensure that you are aware of a few items needed to participate:
- If you have already started or completed a Certified Direct Care Professional (CDCP) course, you are not eligble to take this course. If you are new to the program, you may enroll any time.
- The CDCP portion of the course requires approximately 30 hours of online learning, an evaluation, and a scheduled, proctored online final exam.
- Once you have completed CDCP final exam, an email will be sent to you with a link to an online nurse aide class entrance quiz. You will have two attempts to pass the quiz to enroll in the CNA class.
- You will receive a link to enroll in a CNA class through the Healthcare Workforce Training Institute. CNA class sessions are held in-person at one of the institute's education centers, which are located in the communities of Bloomer, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Fennimore, Lodi, Rice Lake, Spooner, St. Croix Falls, and Superior. There are no classes available in eastern Wisconsin or the Milwaukee area.
- The nurse aide class must be completed within 180 days or six months of completing the CDCP certification. If not, you will be dis-enrolled from participating in the CDCP-to-CNA Career Ladder course.
- The normal 75-hour in-person nurse aide (CNA) classes are typically held in the following formats:
- Day Class: each session is typically 8 hours, with a 30 minute lunch
▪ 7 sessions for CDCP-to-CNA Career Ladder Participants
▪ 10 sessions for all others - Evening Class: each session is typically 5 hours
▪ 11 sessions for CDCP-to-CNA Career Ladder Participants
▪ 15 sessions for all others - The nurse aide (CNA) class and certification testing may be FREE, if paid by your employer, community service program (WIOA, FSET, etc.), or your high school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) grant. If not, you wish to become a certified nursing assistant, you will need to pay the testing fees yourself.
